He's 4. FOUR!!!

This afternoon the Boys and I were sitting in the school cafeteria. I was bribing them not to moan on the 20 minute walk home through the driving snow by feeding them chocolate croissants whilst piously consuming only hot water myself. (Honestly. Who knew I would turn into my mother so early?).

It was busy, with pupils from right across the age spectrum of the school (4 - 18) stopping by to refuel, and next to us there was a table of five approximately 15 year-old girls, laughing and chatting away.

Boy #2, having finished his croissant, sat there with a chocolate smile on his face, surveying the room. A particularly loud 'Oh my gaaaaaaad!' from the table of girls behind him caught his interest, and he turned around to take a look.

He did a double take.

Then, he leaned over, nudged his brother in the ribs and said "Boy #1! Look!"

Boy #1, in a world of his own, recounting the plot of 'Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs' to me for the nth time, stopped. "What? What is it?"

"Look!" came the answer, a cheeky grin on Boy #2's face as he pointed behind him with a sticky hand. "Look! Gaaaaayells*!"

This is how it's going to be, isn't it?

* That's 'girls' for those who don't speak Four Year Old Boy.

  2. Hee hee, 4 is the new fourteen Potty. I bet they thought he was adorable.
And I keep thinking I too should start the drinking of water. I know it would be so good for me...but I am a coward. :D

  4. Oh dear! I've got a stroppy teenager 4 yr old on my hands if it makes you feel any better. Kevin the Teenager in Spiderman pants - who'd have thought it!

  5. Don't feel bad, Two has been flirting with girls since he was able to walk. I think he doesn't quite realise that the ones he picks are out of his age range and league. Optimism!
Hot water! What are you like?!

  6. I'm with Mothership. Hot water? There's still hope for you, though, because I know you have a chocolate obsession.

  7. Heather, you said it!

Jo, I know, the hot water thing sounds bad. But have you actually tried it? As long as you're not expecting it to be a cup of tea or coffee, it can actually (can't believe I'm saying this) be quite refreshing. Heaven help me.

HB, no skating this weekend as we're off to the UK for half term. Waiting for the taxi now in fact - and I can't WAIT to negotiate the Russian passport control on my own with two boys. It's going to be - interesting...

HCM - it's just lovely, isn't it, when they do that?

Mothership, I suppose if they are optimistic about such thing we're not doing too bad a job in bringing up confident sons... (And for hot water response, see my reply to Jo...)

Iota - I know, I'm letting the side down. But the chocolate thing saves me, I think.

Lisa, I think you're right. Am practising my scary telephone manner already, for when the girls start calling them up...
