Happy New Year!

These are not resolutions. No way, no how. These are instead declarations of intent for the forthcoming year...

In 2012, I will:

Keep my family close, no matter how far away.
Know what's important, and if necessary, fight for it.
Have the courage of my convictions.
Trust my gut instinct - it's right more often than I'm tempted to give it credit for.
Be healthy.
Be happy.
Have decent chocolate to hand. A little of the good stuff is usually better than a lot of the rubbish alternative (this last applies as much to wine as it does to chocolate, by the way).
Remember that life is too short to make your own mayonnaise.
Not eat if I'm not hungry.

(The author reserves the right to change the order of this list depending on the time of the month and prevailing weather conditions).

  1. That looks like a good and reasonable list to me. I think you will easily stick to it. I know you are determind. At least you're not trying to get off the chocolate.

  4. Happy new year! Sounds like a good list. The only thing I disagree on is the mayo (although I don't make it myself, it has to be said, my husband does - and it's SO much better than the bought stuff...)

  5. I wholeheartedly agree to all of those and of late I have been advising all my friends to listen to their instincts more - very often we know the answer before we spend far too long agonising over it all - heart over head I guess that is.

    Anyway, HNY my lovely.

  6. Trust your instinct is a goody, there's been whole books written about this and your first reaction is the best apparently....Happy New Year, looking forward to visiting loads in 2012!

  7. So glad I'm not a chocolate person. It's bad enough with all the cheese I manage to consume, and let's not even mention the wine - which is to be reduced this year. Happy New Year!
